Possessing one of the most peculiar and intense voices in Latin music, singer and songwriter Leonardo Favio launched his vocal career in 1968 by appearing on a variety of radio programs. After leaving his native Mendoza for Buenos Aires and developing a deep fascination with cinema, he entered acting with a minor part in the 1957 film Angel de España and continued with a role in 1958’s El Secuestrador. Soon afterward he completed his first short, El Amigo. The 1970s became his period of greatest musical achievement, built around sweeping romantic ballads that included the enduring classics “Fuiste Mia Un Verano,” “Ella...Ella Ya Me Olvidó,” and “O Quizás Simplemente Te Regale Una Rosa.” Later, as a Christian artist, Favio resumed touring so he could fund additional filmmaking projects.
