Lily Meola, a native of Hawaii, composes folk-pop material whose lyrics balance daring spirit with emotional resonance. Maui’s singular creative atmosphere steered her toward partnerships with several prominent locals. Entering the first years of the 2020s, she issued multiple carefully shaped singles, among them the upbeat “Daydream.” The EP carrying that title followed in 2022.

Raised on Maui from birth, Meola absorbed the work of classic singer-songwriters Joni Mitchell and Carole King along with blues and jazz. Her skills emerged early; at age 11 she was already appearing in neighborhood bars and cafés. Though modest in size, Maui supports a dense concentration of notable residents, among them super-producer Bob Rock, who later served as her mentor. Songwriting counsel also arrived from Jackson Browne, and she shared stages with another longtime island figure, Willie Nelson.

A recording contract soon materialized and her path appeared stable until her mother received a cancer diagnosis. While acting as caregiver, Meola lost the deal and, ultimately, her mother. Seeking to move past that chapter, she earned a spot on the 2022 season of NBC’s America’s Got Talent. By then she already had several singles to her name, the most visible being the motivational “Daydream.” She did not win the contest, yet the national exposure markedly accelerated her progress, leading to the late-2022 release of her debut EP, Daydream.
