Biography
Samantha Poulter, who records as Logic1000, crafts unadorned yet meticulously layered club music that draws from house, U.K. bass, electro, and R&B. After issuing her debut self-titled EP in 2018, the tracks quickly drew notice from Four Tet and Caribou; she also supplied remixes for Christine and the Queens and Låpsley while continuing to issue her own material, including the 2021 EPs You've Got the Whole Night to Go and In the Sweetness of You. Her first full-length album, Mother, appeared in 2024 and merged 1990s pop and R&B elements with club sounds from the underground.
Although born in Sydney, Poulter later settled in Melbourne and explored multiple professions, including retail work and roles in children’s services, while quietly producing music. Positive responses to her uploads prompted the local Sumac label to release the Logic1000 EP at the close of 2018. After relocating to London, her recordings began receiving support from Anthony Naples, Four Tet, Fauzia, and Ben UFO, most notably the Deborah Cox-sampling track “DJ Logic Please Forgive Me.” She performed at the 2019 edition of Berlin Atonal as well as at Printworks in London and delivered official remixes for Caribou, Christine and the Queens, Don Toliver, and additional artists. In 2020, Poulter and her partner Thomas McAlister—known as Big Ever and previously as Cop Envy—relocated to Berlin at the moment the COVID-19 pandemic shuttered clubs worldwide. She founded her own imprint, Therapy, and released the single “Perfume.” The second EP, You've Got the Whole Night to Go, followed in early 2021, with In the Sweetness of You arriving later that year.
“Can’t Stop Thinking About” and “Rush” surfaced in 2022, while Logic1000 reworked material by Groove Armada, Flume, Orbital, and others. The 2023 singles “Grown on Me” and “Self to Blame,” the latter featuring Kayla Blackmon, served as the initial indicators of her forthcoming debut album. Mother appeared in 2024 and also included contributions from Rochelle Jordan, DJ Plead, and MJ Nebrada.
