Emerging in 1999, Long Since Forgotten (LSF) started out as an unassuming emo group within the independent music scene. The lineup consisting of Josh Coy, Caleb Coy, and Jeff French put out their first record, In All Honest, themselves during January 2000. One year afterward came their acoustic EP titled Monday 12am, which contained five tracks. Once that EP came out, the three musicians brought on Steve Stockin as their permanent drummer and commenced performing gigs along the East Coast, with a focus on New York state venues. Heading into their subsequent record—the initial one featuring Stockin—LSF traveled to Eudora, KS, for sessions at Redhouse Recording studio under the guidance of Ed Rose. Having previously collaborated with established acts like the Get Up Kids, Rose provided the group with a refined, professional production quality. Eight days were dedicated to working with Rose throughout October 2001. This effort yielded All the Things You Said..., which secured LSF a contract from RocketStar Recordings for a release in the latter part of summer 2002. Concurrently, the band contributed a track to the eighth installment of The Emo Diary compilation and launched a nationwide tour aimed at expanding their audience reach.
