Los Terricolas, whose moniker translates as Earth Dwellers, stands among Venezuela’s leading dance ensembles through its grounded vocal blends over propulsive grooves. The Hoyer brothers—Johnny, David, and Lenny—anchor the lineup, yet the ensemble draws added force from Nestor Daniel’s energetic lead vocals.
Originating in the modest Venezuelan community of Moron within Carabobo state, the group steadily broadened its reach. After Caesar Roldan, president of Discomoda Record label, spotted the act, it issued the debut single “You Will Live” and promptly embarked on a 1974 tour of Ecuador. The next year brought a Mexican trek during which the single “I Swear That I Today Love” registered modest chart traction. International visibility arrived with “Mourning In The Core,” a widely embraced Latin dance track that prompted subsequent performances throughout the United States, Mexico, Central America, and South America.
