Biography
Mansionz took shape as a collaborative effort between Mike Posner and Mat Musto, the latter better recognized by his stage name Blackbear. The pair crafts a sound that fuses electronic textures with hip-hop and R&B sensibilities inside a pop context. Their first collection appeared in 2017 under the title Mansionz, with the follow-up, Mansionz 2, arriving in 2023.
The project originated in Los Angeles during 2016, assembled by Posner, who works as a singer and songwriter, alongside Blackbear, who functions as both singer and producer. Already established as solo artists, the two had begun developing a shared creative history in 2012 through their co-writing of Justin Bieber’s single “Boyfriend.” That early experience eventually led them to define the Mansionz idea. After inking a deal with Island Records in 2016, they issued the tracks “STFU,” which includes a feature from Spark Master Tape, and “White Girls.” The former reached the Top Ten on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart. Their self-titled debut studio album surfaced in 2017 and peaked at number 67 on the Billboard 200. After a prolonged break, the duo resurfaced in October 2023 with the second full-length effort, Mansionz 2.
