Biography
Born Lilly Marie Pettersson on April 24, 1979, in Västerås, Sweden, Marie Picasso launched an initial singing attempt in 2002 by performing the theme “Tell the World” for the German television program Eva -- Ganz Mein Fall, yet the exposure produced no recording agreement. Limited broadcast visibility arrived through guest spots on programs such as Big Brother. Victory in the 2007 Swedish edition of Pop Idol thrust her into the spotlight and prompted a solo path with Sony BMG. Toward the end of that year she issued two singles, among them a version of “Flashdance...What a Feeling” that registered modest chart traction and “This Moment,” which entered at number one on the Swedish singles ranking. Her first full-length release, The Secret (2007), followed two weeks later and likewise debuted at the top position.
