Pauline, a French pop singer, songwriter, and pianist, first captured widespread attention across French-speaking regions with her breakthrough single “Allô le Monde” in 2008. Born Pauline Vasseur on January 5, 1988, in Lens, Pas-de-Calais, France, she took up the piano early and later trained at the Conservatoire de Lille in northern France. Her recording career began in summer 2007 when the single “Allô le Monde” appeared, followed a couple of months afterward by an album sharing the same title.

Although she wrote most of the material herself, Pauline worked closely with producer Jean-Luc Léonardon and songwriter François Welgryn, the latter contributing lyrics to the title track and several other songs. Capitol Records issued the album, which entered the French albums chart at number 92 in October 2008 before quickly dropping out. After “Allô le Monde” climbed to the Top Ten on the French singles chart and the Top Five on the Belgian singles chart in early 2008, the album reentered the French rankings and reached the Top 30, where it remained for much of the year. A second single, “C’est Pas Toi Qui M’auras,” arrived in late 2008, and Pauline toured extensively in support of the project through 2009.
