Success on the Scandinavian pop charts, even if short-lived, has long followed most contestants who reach the later rounds of Swedish Idol. Sibel Redzep, who also performs as Sibel, proved no different. After a lackluster showing in 2004, she returned to the program, advanced to the final three, and ultimately finished behind Sebastian Karlsson and Agnes Carlsson. Three quiet years later she resurfaced at the 2008 Melodifestivalen with the song “That Is Where I’ll Go,” advancing as far as the second round and finishing seventh overall. Her first full-length release, The Diving Belle, which included the Melodifestivalen entry, arrived in stores on March 15 of that year, just three days after the contest concluded. “That Is Where I’ll Go” quickly climbed to number six on the Swedish singles chart, while the album itself reached a peak position of number nine.
