In the closing years of the 1990s, Josh Presseisen launched his solo electronica project Marumari from Providence, Rhode Island. Through meticulously crafted electronic works distinguished by singular glistening pulses and undulating percussive textures, the endeavor issued multiple EPs and contributed tracks to assorted compilations before assembling its first album. Story of the Heavens appeared in 1999 on Cunsanto Records as Marumari’s inaugural full-length, introducing forays into ambient techno and intelligent dance music. Carpark Records soon released the subsequent album Ballad of the Round Ball. The Wolves Hollow followed during the next year, and Supermogadon surfaced twelve months afterward. The fifth major studio album, 4876, reached audiences in 2001. The compilation The Remixes arrived the year after, offering fresh perspectives on Marumari’s daring electronic frameworks.
