Hailing from Denmark, electro-pop performer Medina has earned widespread acclaim for her self-assured yet approachable tracks that examine contemporary existence, romantic entanglements, and dancefloor energy. Mainstream recognition arrived in 2009 via her second studio effort, the number-two entry Velkommen til Medina, whose lead track "Kun for Mig" dominated the yearly Danish singles landscape. Two years afterward she again reached the runner-up position on the domestic album ranking with For Altid, an outing that yielded three separate chart-toppers ("Synd for Dig," "Kl. 10," and the album title). Subsequent standalone successes such as the 2014 number ones "Giv Slip" and "Når Intet Er Godt Nok" kept her visible on the singles tally until the Top Five arrival of fourth album Grim in 2018. Throughout this period she also registered entries via concert recordings, extended plays, English-language projects, and guest appearances alongside the likes of Burhan G, Spektors, and M-22. Into the present decade she has sustained Top 40 status in her homeland, highlighted by the 2023 D1ma collaboration "Lidt Endnu" and the assertive 2024 solo release "Giv Mig Alt."

Born Andrea Fuentealba Valbak on November 3, 1982, in Aarhus, Denmark, to a Chilean father and Danish mother, she has altered her legal name on several occasions while retaining Medina for professional use. Her inaugural full-length solo statement, 2007's Tæt På, emerged through Attack Music in tandem with Danish production team Providers, comprising Jeppe Federspiel and Rasmus Stabell. Although three singles—"Flå," "Et Øjeblik," and "Alene"—accompanied the project, neither they nor the album itself achieved immediate prominence. Breakthrough momentum built in late 2008 once "Kun for Mig" began its rapid climb, ultimately becoming the year's foremost Danish hit by logging seventeen consecutive weeks inside the Top Five and six weeks at the summit. A follow-up, "Kun for Dig" featuring rapper L.O.C., likewise reached number one, while the English counterpart "You and I" registered modest international traction.

After "Kun for Dig," Medina issued her second album Velkommen til Medina in 2009, again shaped primarily by Providers alongside selected contributions from Motrack, born Christian von Staffeldt. The number-two Danish album generated further smashes with "Velkommen til Medina," which held the top spot for five weeks, and "Ensom." She additionally appeared on another chart leader that year, Thomas Helmig's "100 Dage" from the album Tommy Boy. The English-language adaptation Welcome to Medina surfaced in 2010, attaining number eleven domestically while entering the German Top Ten and appearing in Austria and Switzerland; a featured role on Burhan G's "Mest Ondt" delivered another Danish number one.

Reuniting with Providers, Medina matched her prior album peak when For Altid entered at number two and attained multi-platinum certification, supplying three number-one singles—"For Altid," "Synd for Dig," and "Kl. 10"—plus three additional Top Ten entries ("12 Dage," "Lyser i Mørke," and "Har Du Glemt"). An English counterpart, Forever, followed in 2012 and reached the Danish Top 20 while charting in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Further Danish number-one success arrived via the Spektors collaboration "Lågsus," and a Top Five placement resulted from "Hvad Der Sker Her" with comedy duo Nik & Ras, whose members are Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Rasmus Bjerg.

A cluster of 2014 releases encompassed the EP Arrogant, the live set Tæt På - Live, and three Danish chart-toppers: "Jalousi," "Giv Slip," and "Når Intet Er Godt Nok." The English-language We Survive arrived in 2016, peaking at number twenty in Denmark and inside the German Top 40; darker in mood than earlier works, it comprised ten new compositions together with renditions of her three solo number ones from 2014. Her subsequent Danish album, issued that same year under the title Grim, marked her Universal debut and climbed to number five, aided by the Top Ten ballad "Elsk Mig."

Thereafter Medina concentrated on shorter releases, securing a British Top 20 placement in 2017 as a featured artist on M-22's "First Time" and accumulating six additional Danish Top 40 appearances, among them a Top Five 2023 pairing with rapper D1ma on a rendition of "Lidt Endnu." In 2024 she returned to the charts with the self-empowerment singles "Danser for Mig Selv" and "Giv Mig Alt."
