Originating from Norway, pop vocalist and composer Julie Bergan developed an energetic, confident approach through early partnerships with rap and electronic acts such as Cir.Cuz and Alan Walker. Her major-label introduction arrived via the 2014 single “Younger,” after which she claimed the top spot on her home chart with her own “Arigato” in 2016; the following year her debut full-length, Turn On the Lights, reached the national Top Five.

Born in Skien, she spent part of her childhood performing, taking part in dance, musicals, and theater productions. Late in 2012 she supplied featured vocals on Cir.Cuz’s “Supernova,” a track that climbed to number five on the Norwegian singles chart. At nineteen she became the youngest entrant in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, an appearance that led to a contract with Warner Music Norway and the release of her official debut single “Younger” the next year.

A string of successful releases followed, among them the late-2015 Top Ten hit “All Hours.” Mid-2016 brought further success when “Arigato” topped the Norwegian chart and entered Sweden’s Top Five, earning a Spellemann Award nomination for Song of the Year. During the same period she supported Jess Glynne across Europe and opened for Justin Bieber in Norway and Spain. Early 2017 saw the arrival of the glitchier “Blackout,” followed that summer by “If You Love Me” featuring Tunji Ige and more than thirty festival dates throughout Scandinavia and the U.K. Beginning with late-2017’s “Incapable,” her next four singles all reached Norway’s Top 20. Issued by Warner in February 2018, Turn On the Lights ultimately peaked at number five.

She returned to the summit of the Norwegian singles chart later that year as a featured voice on the K-391 and Alan Walker collaboration “Ignite,” which also included Seungri of K-pop group Big Bang. In 2019 she issued the solo successes “STFU” and “Crazy Enough.”
