Mikkel Metal

Mikkel Meldgaard began his musical path by handling guitar in multiple shoegaze-influenced rock outfits throughout his native Denmark, before rising as one of the stronger proponents of the Basic Channel lineage in minimalist dubby techno. Electronics steadily claimed more of his attention, leading to the first Mikkel Metal productions surfacing on Hal 9000 by the close of 2000. An MP3 release on Datamusik preceded his role as a flagship producer for Echocord, which ran alongside a pair of 12"s issued on Kompakt in 2003. After concentrating exclusively on the 12" format, he delivered his debut full-length Close Selections on Echocord in 2005, then Victimizer on Kompakt the following year, Brone and Wait on Echocord in 2007, and Peaks and Troughs on Echocord in 2008.
