Mixhell

Mixhell originated in Brazil as an electro-focused DJ and remix duo assembled by longtime Sepultura drummer Igor Cavalera and his wife Laima Leyton. Born September 4, 1970, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Cavalera is the younger brother of vocalist and guitarist Max Cavalera. Together the siblings launched the influential thrash metal band Sepultura in 1984. Following extensive underground success and acclaim built on landmark releases such as Arise (1991) and Chaos A.D. (1993), Max departed the group in 1996 to establish the popular metal outfit Soulfly, while Igor remained until 2006. Immediately after exiting Sepultura, Cavalera joined Leyton to create Mixhell, after which the pair launched a schedule of live DJ performances under that name. Their efforts also concentrated on remix production, with numerous results distributed online. Among the most widely circulated examples was a January 2008 podcast hosted on XLR8R.com that opens with several electro reworkings of Iron Maiden.
