Biography
Scottish outfit Model Aeroplanes craft catchy guitar-driven pop shaped by the bouncy post-punk sounds of the 1980s and bright Afro-beat pulses. The band formed in Dundee in 2012 and features longtime high-school friends Rory Fleming-Stewart on lead vocals and guitar, Grant Irvine on guitar, Ben Buist on bass, and Kieran Smith on drums. Their 2013 single “Crazy” already drew notice after surpassing 10,000 online plays ahead of its official release, landing the group a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Scotland’s T in the Park. Further singles that earned strong responses soon arrived, among them “Innocent Love” and “Electricity.”
