Biography
Formed in 2001 in Sundsvall, Sweden, the melodic death metal outfit My Own Grave emerged when guitarist Anders Härén, bassist Max Bergman, and drummer John Henriksson came together. Vocalist Ramin Farhadian soon completed the lineup, after which the group issued its debut demo, New Path/Same Path. With the subsequent addition of guitarist Stefan Kihlgren, the band tracked a second demo titled Dissection of a Mind and made its first onstage appearances in summer 2002. Tensions with Farhadian escalated by the close of that year amid the fraught sessions for the third demo, Blood and Ashes, prompting his departure in March 2003. Replacement vocalist Mikael Aronsson—previously of Mord, Ontogenesis, and Cavevomit—joined and appeared on the ensuing 2004 demo, Progression Through Deterioration. That recording secured a contract with Karmageddon Media, which issued the band’s debut album, Unleash, in 2006. My Own Grave promptly moved to Pulverised Records, where it released the Unholy EP in 2007 and the Dan Swanö–produced follow-up album Necrology in 2009.
