Olaf Malolepski, a vocalist from Germany, first gained widespread recognition through his role in the acclaimed schlager outfit Die Flippers. The group, established toward the end of the 1960s, earned recognition as one of the genre’s most enduring acts by moving in excess of 40 million units across a lengthy, multi-decade run. Following the ensemble’s retirement in April 2011, Malolepski moved quickly into a solo path, issuing his opening effort, Tausend Rote Rosen, that October. The release earned gold status, confirming that a loyal audience remained ready to back the one-time Flipper who thereafter performed under the single name Olaf. Another album appeared the following year, with his initial holiday collection arriving in 2013. The prolific performer maintained a steady pace by putting out a fresh project annually, as seen with Ich Mach's Wie die Sonnenuhr in 2014. Although 2015 brought no new recordings, it later emerged that he had been working on Du Bist Wie Champagner: Zum Jubiläum Nur das Beste, a two-disc set issued in 2016 to mark his seventieth birthday. That collection climbed to number six on the German pop rankings, marking his strongest solo performance to date.
