Biography
Canadian-born vocalist and bassist Parker Bossley first gained public notice through his role in Hot Hot Heat starting in 2008 and only afterward pursued an independent path. His initial solo offering, the buoyant single “Lifted,” appeared in 2018 and carried distinct ’80s synth-pop colors.
Vancouver, British Columbia, provided the setting for his upbringing and earliest musical experiments. At fifteen he left school behind to join the touring indie-rock group the Heck, whose debut release came via Bif Naked’s Her Royal Majesty’s Records imprint. Several subsequent years found him performing with the emo-inflected dance-rock unit Fake Shark-Real Zombie. His profile widened in 2008 once he took the bass chair in Hot Hot Heat, contributing to the band’s fourth album Future Breeds in 2010 and its self-titled 2016 swan song. Parallel ventures during the same span included the Gay Nineties alongside former Heck drummer Malcolm Holt, the electronic pairing Fur Trade with Hot Hot Heat vocalist Steve Bays, and guest appearances on recordings by Fan Death. He later moved to Los Angeles and spent a stretch living in an Airbnb RV stationed in East Los Angeles. Additional session work encompassed Fitz and the Tantrums’ self-titled 2016 album plus projects for No Sinner, DJ Sleepy Tom, Dear Rouge, and others. In 2018 he unveiled his own dance-oriented single “Chemicals,” followed the next year by a second release, “Lifted.”
