Biography
Pterodactyl, formed by Joe Kremer, Matt Marlin, and Kurt Beals, crafted a dense, ferocious strain of indie rock that echoed the knotty approach of Polvo and Modest Mouse, launching the project amid the early 2000s with its signature shrieks and stomps. The trio originated in Ohio before settling in Brooklyn, where Brah Records soon took notice. Their self-titled debut arrived in 2007 and carried the unofficial nickname “Bluejay.” Two years afterward came the more refined Worldwild, succeeded in 2011 by Spills Out.
