Florida musician Nick Quan records under the Quannnic moniker, crafting dense tracks that fuse shoegaze textures with lo-fi, noise, and electronic bedroom-pop ingredients. Signed early to deadAir Records, he began issuing material in 2021 and stockpiled underground singles before unveiling his debut album, Kenopsia, in 2022. A year afterward, the track “Life Imitates Life” achieved viral traction and appeared on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. His sophomore effort, Stepdream, arrived in November 2023.

Since introducing the Quannnic project in 2021, Quan has maintained minimal visibility, allowing word-of-mouth and underground momentum to spread his work. Initial releases such as “Replica” and “One Second of Sympathy” introduced the signature sound of sequenced synthesizers, hushed vocals, and abrasive guitars that nodded toward shoegaze while veering into disparate directions. In February 2022 he issued Kenopsia through the deadAir label, home to Jane Remover. The album gathered steam in the following months, propelled by the breakout success of “Life Imitates Life,” which appeared on multiple international charts in 2023. During this period Quan also dropped the intense “Comatose” and the gritty indie-rock cut “How to Hold a Knife,” both later featured on Stepdream.
