Raign crafts intense symphonic pop as an English vocalist and composer whose sound aligns with that of Sia and Florence + the Machine. In the early to mid-2010s she penned material for vocalists including Rita Ora, Tulisa, and Jesse McCartney while operating under her birth name, Rachel Rabin; her singularly resonant delivery then surfaced on the 2014 Swanky Tunes track “Fix Me,” which bore the artist credit Raign. Her first single issued under the same moniker, “Don’t Let Me Go,” surfaced on an installment of The Vampire Diaries during that period. She also entered the eleventh series of The X Factor that year, advancing no farther than bootcamp yet still receiving televised exposure for her audition along with online circulation of an unused performance. Millionaire London Records released the EP Knocking on Heaven’s Door in March 2015; it spotlighted a spectral reinterpretation of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” that subsequently appeared in several television programs. The same imprint followed with the EP When It’s All Over twelve months afterward and issued the four-song collection Born Again in January 2018.
