A confident and streetwise Tallahassee native emerging in the 2020s alongside the more introspective Lil Goat, the prolific rapper Ralan Styles fuses melodic trap with contemporary R&B. Born Michael Andre Robinson in 2003 in Florida’s capital city, he endured a difficult childhood marked by periods when his family relied on homeless shelters. During those formative years XXXTentacion ranked among his preferred rappers, while he also respected the pop-and-R&B hybrids crafted by mainstream acts such as One Direction and BTS. He began recording his own material in late 2019 at age sixteen, with an early collaboration alongside Lil Goat yielding the hypnotic track “Dancing with the Devil.” Youth Records issued his debut EP, Rising, in February 2020, after which he independently released two additional EPs by year’s end—Phase 2 and Tranquility—both showcasing his inventive approach to R&B and both including appearances by MDB Young Rich.

The holiday single “Snowy Days” preceded his first full-length project, the expansive January 2021 album Radiance, which featured contributions from G-Real, Itstheangxl, and GHXSTBOYY. That year proved especially prolific, producing ten non-album singles; among them the buoyant, piano-driven “Fresh Off the Lot” became his initial breakout, accumulating 120,000 streams within its first three weeks. Phase 3, released in May 2021, expanded the sonic palette by incorporating guitars and a spacious alt-rock dimension. Two further albums, Pisyu and Tic Toxic, arrived in 2022. A pivotal release on New 11 then propelled him to viral status: although rooted in the familiar children’s song, “Baby Shark” adopted a decidedly adult perspective and tallied ten million streams in three weeks, ultimately reaching thirty million streams across the following eighteen months. “Glocks and Raris” appeared in December and rode the momentum of that success.

A pair of singles for Philadelphia’s Big Money Records paved the way for the February 2024 joint album OKAYYY with Lil Goat. At that stage Ralan Styles already operated his own fashion line, endorsed signature headphones, and had secured a recording agreement with Republic, the Universal Music imprint. Subsequent months brought the first tracks issued under that deal—“Bon Appetit,” “Maybach,” and “Polyamorous.”
