Rachel Smith performs under the name Remmi as a singer and songwriter whose vocals and words add substance to airy tracks. She belongs to the expanding electro-pop community that took shape in Nashville throughout the mid- to late 2010s. Having grown up in Orlando, she relocated to Nashville with the goal of securing work in songwriting and publishing. Over time her productions tilted further toward electronics, prompting comparisons with Cappa and Broods. Her first single, “Capable,” arrived in 2014, followed by further cuts that included “Star Spangled” and “Awake, Asleep,” all of which appeared on the 2015 EP New America. Additional projects brought collaborations with Lucian, who featured her on the title track of his 2016 EP Forever, and with NVDES on their 2017 single “Do Your Thing.” She resumed solo activity in early 2018 by issuing the politically charged single “Minimum Wage.”
