Reuben Vincent

Reuben Vincent, the rapper residing in Charlotte, North Carolina, specializes in thoughtful, socially aware rap built around intricate wordplay. Throughout his formative years he worked relentlessly at the grassroots level, sharing stages with Bas and Rapsody and linking with producer 9th Wonder, steps that eventually secured his signing to Roc Nation ahead of the 2023 album Love Is War.

Born in 2000, he began creating music while still in his early teens and issued his first mixtape, IDOLescent, at age 13 under the alias Esau. Though those initial recordings showed clear signs of growth ahead, he kept pushing them across online channels until producer 9th Wonder followed one of the links and responded positively to the material. That encounter led to an invitation to record at 9th Wonder’s studio, where Vincent contributed to several tracks, among them a guest appearance on the Murs cut “The Shutters.” Soon afterward he joined 9th Wonder’s own Jamla Records, releasing his debut albums Myers Park in 2017 and Boy Meets World in 2020. The association progressed into a joint deal with Roc Nation, which issued his third LP, Love Is War, in 2023; the project carried beats from 9th Wonder, Young Guru, and Vincent himself while updating classic boom-bap hip-hop for present-day listeners.
