Biography
Rhian Benson entered the world in Ghana, the child of a British mother and a Ghanaian father. Her formative years were marked by constant movement, taking her first from her birthplace to India before the family established roots in the United Kingdom. She took up the piano in childhood and completed her earliest composition at the age of nine. Commitment to music as a vocation arrived only after university, when she began delivering her refined, jazz-tinged soul material at intimate venues throughout London. Those performances secured a recording deal that yielded her debut album, Gold Coast, in 2003.
