S represents the solo outlet for Jenn Ghetto, the guitarist and vocalist from Carissa's Wierd. Although originally from sunny Tucson, she now calls the rainier city of Seattle home, where she captures nearly all of her S material by herself on four-track inside her bedroom. The resulting work consists of intimate, rain-soaked sketches and diary-like reflections drawn from painful memories and lived experiences, rendered in a dreamy lo-fi aesthetic reminiscent of other understated Northwestern indie acts such as the Spinanes. Her first album, Sadstyle, took shape between 1997 and 1999 before appearing on Brown Records in 2001. Suicide Squeeze then put out Puking and Crying in 2004, with I'm Not as Good at It as You following in 2010 and the Chris Walla-produced Cool Choices arriving in 2014.
