Biography
Sadie Ama, a British R&B vocalist, first drew widespread attention through her own single "Fallin'" and through guest vocal spots on recordings by assorted R&B and urban acts. Exposure to the business arrived early when her older sister Shola Ama rose to prominence in the 1990s by shaping her own strain of contemporary R&B and dance music. Growing up in a household where music was constant, she regularly watched her aunt perform with the jazz collective the Clamber. Earlier still, as a child model, she appeared in multiple music videos across the 1990s, among them a portrayal of a young Mel B in the Spice Girls' clip for "Mama". She could also be seen in So Solid Crew's "Broken Silence" and Lemar's "50/50". In her late teens she began cultivating her own voice and supplied vocals for grime producer Terror Danjah's 2004 single "So Sure", which also featured Kano; the track registered strong U.K. chart performance. After pausing to complete her studies she resurfaced with "Fallin'", which reached number 67 on the U.K. Singles Chart and secured a nomination for Best U.K. Newcomer at the 2007 MOBO Awards. She later joined the urban collective A-List, assembled by grime artist Wiley, supplying vocals alongside her sister Shola. Subsequent years were spent shaping her own catalogue of material. In 2016 she appeared on Tom Zanetti's track "You Want Me".
