Biography
Pop singer Sally Anthony made her entrance in 1998 with the EP One Word Poetry Contest, followed by the 2001 release Preview and then Come Clean in 2002. By then she had cultivated a loyal regional audience centered in her Indiana hometown while landing support slots alongside performers such as Chris Isaak and Natalie Merchant. In 2004 she took on co-ownership of the semi-pro men’s basketball franchise Nashville Shock and readied her first full-length album. Late January 2005 brought turmoil when an irate Anthony attempted to dismiss the team’s female coach mid-game. That incident prompted her resignation as Shock CEO, after which she and her fellow owners declared their intention to sell the club. Her debut album Vent appeared on the independent Gracie label amid the ongoing Nashville Shock uproar. Her initial major-label project arrived in 2007 with the EMI-issued Goodbye.
