Biography
Tamar Kaprelian, an Armenian-American singer and songwriter born in Scottsdale, Arizona, first found musical excitement in the scores of classic Disney animated features. Her path to recognition opened in 2008 after she won OneRepublic’s “Apologize” Cover Contest on YouTube. The resulting recording came out as a single, prompting bandleader Ryan Tedder to connect Kaprelian with Interscope, which then offered her a recording contract. Later, as a pianist and vocalist, she drew creative influence from Billy Joel, Elton John, Paul McCartney, and Carol King. Kaprelian delivered her debut album, Sinner or a Saint, in 2010; the project spotlighted the single “New Day.”
