Australian singer and songwriter Sam Fischer crafts candid, introspective words meant to resonate and offer solace. Residing in Los Angeles, he has penned material for Ciara, Clean Bandit, and Jennifer Hudson while issuing his own recordings since 2016. A guest spot on Black Saint’s summer 2019 dance success “Everybody Wants You” preceded the later breakout of his own earlier track “This City,” which amassed major streaming numbers. Sony subsequently issued the Homework EP in 2020 and paired him on the 2021 duet “What Other People Say” with Demi Lovato and the 2023 single “Alright” with Meghan Trainor.

Born beyond Sydney, Australia, Fischer began composing at age twelve. Classical studies on saxophone and violin carried him to Berklee College of Music in the early 2010s; after graduation he relocated to Los Angeles, where he pursued a solo path, joined the local a cappella community, and served as backup vocalist for HOLYCHILD. Amid steady industry work he prepared original songs, leading to the 2016 release of his debut single, the romantic, R&B-tinged “Lean.” The following year brought “Same Friends” and “Getting Older,” plus a feature on Opia’s gently rolling “Secrets.” His first EP, Not a Hobby, arrived in January 2018. He co-wrote Ciara’s “Dose,” appeared on cuts by Pat Lok and Nighttime Crowd, and scored a summer dance hit with Black Saint on “Everybody Wants You” in 2019. Sony signed him, reissued Not a Hobby, and watched “This City” surge; the momentum anchored the 2020 Homework EP. The early-2021 duet “What Other People Say” with Demi Lovato charted across several territories, including Australia, while later singles “Hopeless Romantic,” “Carry It Well,” and “You Don’t Call Me Anymore” sustained his profile. In 2023 he revisited the collaborative format for “High on You” with Amy Shark before releasing “Alright” with Meghan Trainor.
