Biography
Shayna Leigh, who grew up in Orlando, Florida, initially headed to New York intending to study drama at NYU as a singer and songwriter. Introspection later redirected her focus toward music, leading her to begin singing and performing at clubs throughout the city. Two independent EPs issued in 2013 and 2014 earned her a contract with Universal-affiliated S-Curve Records. In collaboration with co-writers and producers Michael Mangini (Joss Stone, Diane Birch) and Peter Zizzo (Vanessa Carlton, Avril Lavigne), she developed material that highlights her firm grasp of pop while shifting between fiery Alanis Morissette-style alt-pop and a more classic folk-infused pop approach. Her debut album, Drive, arrived in the summer of 2015.
