Biography
Techno enthusiasts Graeme Reedie and Craig Morrison make up Silicone Soul, the Glasgow pair who sustain club and dance sounds across Scotland. The two bonded instantly in childhood as punk outsiders united by their passion for music, leading them to launch the band Dead City Radio and perform repeatedly in and near their hometown. Their momentum faded soon after Morrison caught a Primal Scream performance, causing them to abandon their raw punk edge for electronic methods almost at once. The first half of the 1990s found them immersed in electronic experiments, collaborating with Slam’s Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle while refining their craft as house producers. They launched Depth Perception Records in 1996, positioning Silicone Soul as a credible act, then signed with Soma in 1998 and issued three widely acclaimed tracks—“Climbing Walls,” “All Nite Long,” and “Right on 4 Tha Darkness.” Acclaim followed from key figures including Laurent Garnier, Pete Tong, and Andrew Weatherall, and the duo appeared at festivals such as Roskilde and T in the Park while upholding exacting standards in their layered house work. Their debut album, A Soul Thing, arrived in 2000.
