Biography
Australian sisters Sharon and Christine Muscat deliver their vocals in seamless pop harmony while also handling their own songwriting duties. Sharon contributes piano and guitar, and Chris supplies piano along with drums.
From an early age the talented pair absorbed the sounds of prominent female performers including Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Paula Abdul. Over time they expanded their list of favorites to encompass TLC, the Backstreet Boys, and fellow Australians Savage Garden.
While still teenagers, with Sharon the youngest at 15 and Chris at 19, they issued their first single, “Sister,” in 1999. The track quickly climbed into the United Kingdom’s Top 20. A remix of the hit followed, and in 2000 the sisters released their next single, “What’s a Girl to Do.” That same year Sister 2 Sister finished work on their debut album, One. The title reflected the close resemblance in the siblings’ voices that had earned them the nickname “One,” making it an apt choice for their opening full-length project. The record achieved gold status and yielded three additional hit singles.
Between studio work and video shoots the sisters maintain an active touring schedule that has taken them across the United States, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Germany, and their native Australia. They have shared stages with Five, B*witched, Blaque, Innocence, and BBMak. Sister 2 Sister has also completed a Disney radio tour, a Disney World tour, and a Nickelodeon tour, and they have served as opening acts for Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Savage Garden, and others.
Such accomplishments help explain why the young duo received the Best Newcomer award at the Disney Music Awards in 2000.
