Biography
Formed in the mid-1990s by high-school friends Neil Alday on vocals and guitar, Dusty Price on bass, and Brandon Bittner on drums, Socialburn first assembled in a small central Florida town. The trio soon carried their sound into the Tallahassee scene after coming together spontaneously. Audiences responded to the band’s direct post-grunge approach, quickly earning Socialburn steady local radio play. Guitarist Chris Cobb joined by 2000, the same year an independent album appeared. The group then played shows in Jacksonville and Orlando to attract label attention in a region already energized by Creed’s success. A second self-released disc arrived before Socialburn secured a deal with Elektra in 2002. Their debut, Where You Are, surfaced in February 2003 as a sturdy set of post-grunge hard rock shaped by Nirvana’s influence. Extensive road work followed, with the band sharing bills alongside Blue October, Default, and Seether.
