Biography
Steven A. Clark positions his music within pop while weaving together threads of modern R&B and rock into a sound that feels approachable yet remains apart from prevailing mainstream priorities. Attention first arrived with the 2014 EP Late, which led to a contract with Secretly Canadian and the arrival of his 2015 debut album The Lonely Roller.
Little Rock, Arkansas, marks his birthplace, though Clark grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and later earned a degree from High Point University. Miami became his base after graduation. Free digital releases such as Stripes and Fornication Under the Consent of the King generated early notice there. Issued as a three-track set in 2014, Late brought his moody, expansive sound and distinctive voice to broader attention while also securing the Secretly Canadian deal. Its standout lead song received prominent placement the next year on the full-length album of the same name, The Lonely Roller. Co-production from Ape Drums shaped the 2018 album Where Neon Goes to Die, which contained the track "Feel This Way." The introspective third LP Hypervigilant appeared in 2019.
