Sunscreem stood among the earliest rave-pop ensembles equipped for live shows, coalescing around Paul Carnell and Lucia Holm—both handling keyboards and vocals—alongside guitarists Darren Woodford and Wayne Simms, bassist Rob Fricker, drummer Sean Wright, and Baz the DJ. A session cellist whose credits encompassed Dream Academy’s “Life in a Northern Town,” Holm encountered Carnell at a warehouse rave in Essex and consented to launch the project. The opening singles “Walk On” and “Pressure” registered modest British chart entries while becoming dancefloor staples, yet 1993’s “Love U More” emerged as their defining track and greatest commercial success. Their debut album O3 arrived that same year and reached American listeners through Columbia. The follow-up single “Perfect Motion” likewise performed strongly, though the group had slipped from the charts by the mid-’90s. Their sophomore album Change or Die finally appeared in 1996, with the 1998 retrospective Looking at You: Club Anthems arriving afterward.
