Superfunk burst onto the dance music circuit through their partnership with Sexy Kool on the track Bubble Boogie, wielding bold authority across volatile blends of hip-hop, funk, and hybrid fusions. The French trio—Fafa Monteco, Stéphane B, and Mike 303—first drew notice while producing cuts such as New Jersey under the Dealers of Funk banner. Individual projects further boosted their profile: Mike 303 supplied Saint Silvestre to a Versatile compilation, while Monteco delivered Good Times to Black Jack’s roster. After remixing material by Moby, Demon, and Shirley Bassey, the group placed Come Back on the Fiat Lux Racing Team compilation and secured a deal with Fiat Lux itself. Their first album, Hold Up, arrived in stores in February 2000, expanding their reach and stature.
