Biography
Hailing from Philadelphia, Sweet Pill merges hardcore’s sonic weaponry with the jittery tension of sugar-charged emo pop, producing a confident and singular style that sits between Paramore and Circa Survive.
Vocalist Zayna Youssef, guitarist Jayce Williams, guitarist Sean McCall, bassist Ryan Cullen, and drummer Chris Kearney formed the group in 2019 and released their debut EP, Lost in It, shortly afterward. Their momentum within the pop-punk and hardcore scenes was interrupted when the COVID-19 pandemic imposed lockdown conditions. Sweet Pill returned in 2022 with their first full-length album, the Topshelf-issued Where the Heart Is, and then embarked on a North American tour alongside post-hardcore veterans La Dispute. The band signed with Hopeless Records in 2023 and issued their initial single for the label, "Starchild," before the year ended.
