Born in Atlanta in 1995 to Colombian parents, Mateo Arias grew up to pursue careers in singing, rapping, and acting. Inspired by his older brother Moises, he began working as a teen performer and secured a key part in the Disney series Kickin' It. Once that show concluded, he took on the stage name ¿Téo? and redirected his energy toward music, crafting a hybrid sound rooted in his multicultural background that combined English and Spanish vocals with elements of hip-hop, Latin pop, alt rock, and bossa nova, a mixture he labeled "Neo American". His debut single, "Uno Dos," arrived in 2017 and included a guest appearance from longtime Hollywood associate Jaden Smith. Although he operated largely outside mainstream attention, Arias steadily built a sizable online audience in the following years, racking up millions of streams on tracks such as "Belong in the Sun," "Buzzed," and "Magic Hour," which appeared on the respective albums ¿Téo? (2018), Sol (2021), and Luna (2023). Live work kept him visible as well, including an opening slot on Justin Bieber's Justice Tour, a set at Coachella 2023, and joint projects alongside Willow Smith, Post Malone, and Kali Uchis.
