Terra Lightfoot brings a commanding presence to the Canadian music scene as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose work fuses roots rock, blues-rock, power pop, country-rock, and Americana. Her commanding voice and guitar technique helped propel her 2017 album New Mistakes to a pair of Juno nominations and a spot on the Polaris Music Prize shortlist. On her independent label Midnight Choir she issued Healing Power in 2023, continuing to refine her buoyant pop-rock approach.

Lightfoot first appeared in 2010 within the Southern Ontario folk-rock collective Dinner Belles. Drawing from Leadbelly, Nina Simone, Sam Cooke, T. Rex, Melanie, Chet Baker, and the Move, she issued her self-titled solo debut on Sonic Unyon in 2011. She later teamed with Gus van Go and Werner F for the hook-driven Every Time My Mind Runs Wild and its 2017 successor New Mistakes, the latter earning a 2018 Juno nomination for Adult Alternative Album of the Year along with a Polaris long-list placement. Before issuing the country-rock-leaning Consider the Speed in 2020, she opened for Bruce Cockburn, Blue Rodeo, Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Posies, The Sheepdogs, and Willie Nelson. After founding Midnight Choir she returned to van Go for her fifth album, Healing Power, a 2023 collection of road-trip-ready rock tracks that merge pop precision with roots authenticity. Beyond her solo catalog she has recorded with Emmylou Harris, Ron Sexsmith, Grace Potter, and Gordon Lightfoot, who is unrelated.
