Terry Oldfield

Terry Oldfield, recognized as a flutist and composer, earned his chief distinction through scores for motion pictures and television programs while issuing solo albums at a consistent pace beginning in the mid-1980s. He supplied the music for multiple Emmy-nominated National Geographic productions, among them Land of the Tiger and Twilight of the Dream Time. The opening years of the twenty-first century brought a surge of additional Oldfield recordings. Spirit of the World appeared first in 2000, weaving together musical influences from the Australian aborigines, the temples of Tibet, Native America, Cambodia, Africa, and Greece. The year 2001 then yielded Across the Universe, which Oldfield himself termed "an inner journey," the fifteen-track survey Reflections: The Best of Terry Oldfield 1985-1995, and a reissue of the 1986 title In the Presence of Light on his own imprint TO Music. Oldfield entered an agreement with New Earth Records during 2001, resulting in the February 2002 release of Turning Point.
