Biography
Forming a New York-based duo known as the Blancos, musicians Cory Hueston and Jayson Robbins crafted a fusion of raw, soul-infused alt-rock and polished hip-hop production that secured them a devoted audience along with a major-label agreement in 2017.
The longtime friends first joined forces toward the end of the 2000s, shaping a style informed by grunge, hard rock, and hip-hop that led to their initial release, the 2014 EP Heartless Romantic. A follow-up EP, Broken Kids, arrived in 2016, prompting interest from Universal’s Lava Records imprint, which signed the Blancos late the following year.
Their first single for the label, the 2018 track “Know My Name,” delivered a confident, blues-tinged blend of rock and soul updated with a contemporary edge. The subsequent release “We’re Tired,” a collaboration with rapper Joyner Lucas, expanded their reach and accumulated substantial streams.
