Biography
The Blank Theory, an alt-metal combo, consisted of vocalist/guitarist Nathan Leone, bassist Matthew Leone, guitarist Michael Foderaro, drummer James Knight, and keyboardist Shawn Currie. The ensemble came together in Chicago in 1999, building recognition via a series of live shows and a self-released EP. The quintet later connected with the reactivated Scratchie imprint, distributed at that point by a Warner subsidiary. In September 2002, Scratchie released the group's debut full-length, Beyond the Calm of the Corridor, which highlighted the Blank Theory's sound influenced by Stabbing Westward and Tool and included a rocked-up cover of Portishead's "Sour Times." James Iha produced the album and played guitar on several tracks.
