The Callous Daoboys

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, the inventive and free-spirited mathcore collective Callous Daoboys surfaced in the late 2010s, drawing their turbulent sound from the chaos and cacophony of earlier acts such as Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, and the Chariot. Their potent third studio album, Celebrity Therapist, arrived in 2022 and earned widespread critical praise.

Carson Pace on vocals, Maddie Caffrey on guitar, Alex Jerral on drums, Claire Darling on bass, and Amber Christman on violin founded the group in 2016. Blending nu-metal, art-rock, hardcore, and pop, they put out their first EP, My Dixie Wrecked, alongside their debut LP, Animal Tetris, both in 2017. After drummer Jerral and bassist Darling departed, the remaining lineup delivered their second album, the immersive and freewheeling Die on Mars, in 2019. Callous Daoboys kept rejecting conventional song structures on their third full-length release, the vibrant and envelope-pushing Celebrity Therapist. Issued in 2022, the record brought Daniel Hodsdon on guitar, Abby Sherman on synthesizer, Matthew Ryan on drums, and Rich Castillo on saxophone into the fold.
