Biography
Following the Three Tenors' rise to superstardom during the early 1990s, vocal groups consisting of three tenors quickly became a familiar format in classical crossover music. The Canadian Tenors, however, began as a trio before expanding the concept into a four-member ensemble. British Columbia composer Jill Ann Siemens established the ensemble, which required several years to achieve a cohesive balance among its voices. Its debut album arrived in 2008 and achieved immediate commercial success; the following year the quartet released the holiday project The Perfect Gift, which earned gold certification. Both recordings later reached multi-platinum status. Once the members had firmly established their artistic identity, the group shortened its name to The Tenors.
