The Kin

The Australian brothers Isaac and Thorry Koren launched the Kin as an acoustic duo upon settling in New York City in 2001. Their sound merges '90s Brit-pop with soulful alternative rock and introspective material built for radio play, which quickly cultivated a loyal audience throughout the Eastern Seaboard. Growing up in Adelaide inside a household that championed music, the pair began lessons in jazz and vocal technique at age ten and wrote their first song together during their late teens. After moving to New York, they assembled additional players on a revolving basis—drummers, keyboardists, and bassists among them—to realize their expansive material. Tracing arrived as their debut album in 2004, followed by Red and Black in 2005, Live at the Pussy Cat in 2006, and Rise and Fall in 2007. In 2011 the band secured a contract with Interscope and started recording the next album after Rise and Fall.
