Biography
Swedish metalcore quartet Thrown produces a savage, scorching, and jarring clamor that blends melodic hardcore with a nu-metal resurgence, saturated in torment and fury. The group formed in Stockholm during 2021 when vocalist Marcus Lundqvist joined guitarists Johan Liljeblad and Andreas Malm plus drummer Buster Odeholm. Veterans of scene stalwarts Humanity's Last Breath, Vildhjarta, and Grieved, they built their dense, crushing tone without bass by relying on heavily downtuned seven-string guitars. Their fusion of metallic hardcore's raw violence with nu-metal grooves and riffs quickly attracted a fervent underground following after the 2022 debut single "New Low."
Later that year they joined Arising Empire, the Nuclear Blast imprint, which issued the band's first EP, Extended Pain. Released initially on CD and digital only, its rapid popularity triggered repeated colored-vinyl repressings across the following two years. Once the EP reached its second anniversary, its tracks had surpassed 50 million streams. Thrown spent much of 2022 and 2023 on the road through North America, Europe, and Australia supporting Knocked Loose, Fit for a King, Emmure, and Counterparts. Their debut full-length, Excessive Guilt, appeared in 2024 and added understated electronic textures.
