A country-pop approach defines the output of sister duo Tigirlily Gold, yielding material equally at home in buoyant radio formats and slower ballads. Early tracks "Intuition" and "Best in Me" emphasized contemporary pop pulses, while the self-titled major-label EP of 2021 and its key song "Somebody Does" confirmed their command of melodic country echoing the vintage Chicks and Taylor Swift. The 2023 release "Shoot Tequila" introduced a bolder stride, yet "I Tried a Ring On," drawn from debut album Blonde, preserved their characteristic warmth undiminished.

Tigirlily Gold—pronounced "tiger" "lilly," with "Gold" appended to the name in 2022—comprises North Dakota natives Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh from Hazen. The sisters established Tigirlily in 2013 at ages 16 and 14. Local touring and YouTube postings followed within several years. Their 2017 relocation to Nashville coincided with enrollment at Belmont University, where both completed degrees in 2020, and with a standing engagement at Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row club. Ongoing social-media activity and live dates expanded their audience, securing opening slots for Justin Moore, Chris Janson, and LeAnn Rimes. Digital singles "Intuition" and "Best in Me" appeared in 2020.

Monument Records confirmed the signing on March 12, 2021, shortly after "Somebody Does" registered initial traction on streaming and social platforms. The self-titled EP arrived that July, showcasing material co-written with Walker Hayes, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Zarni deVette. The duo appeared on the soap opera The Young and the Restless within months and closed the year with holiday single "Where Are You Christmas."

Early 2022 brought the formal name change to Tigirlily Gold. After focused writing sessions that year, the swaggering country-pop cut "Shoot Tequila" emerged in 2023 and reached number 47 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. It anchored the Blonde EP issued in June 2023. Christmas 2023 yielded another seasonal track, "Falalala Falling."

In early 2024 the Academy of Country Music Awards named Tigirlily Gold New Duo or Group of the Year around the same period "I Tried a Ring On" climbed to number 48 on Country Airplay. Paired with sequel "Leroy," the single prepared the ground for full-length Blonde, released in July 2024.
