Biography
Priscilla Block, a country-pop performer, broke through during 2020 via a run of candid singles—“PMS,” “Thick Thighs,” and “Just About Over You”—that blended sticky hooks with unguarded storytelling. Capitalizing on that foundation, she dropped “I Bet You Wanna Know” in early 2021; the track helped push her 2022 debut album, Welcome to the Block Party, into the upper tier of the country charts.
Raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, Block headed to Nashville after finishing high school to chase a music career. Between a string of makeshift jobs that kept her afloat, a chance meeting with longtime idol Taylor Swift supplied the decisive lift of confidence she needed. From 2020 onward she posted a steady flow of her own material and select covers across social platforms, quickly cultivating an ardent following drawn to the self-empowerment, body positivity, and acceptance running through songs such as “Thick Thighs” and “PMS.” Supporters pooled resources for an official single release, and “Just About Over You” caught fire on streaming services, landing her a deal with Mercury Nashville/InDent Records.
Her self-titled debut EP appeared the next year and spotlighted the soaring “I Bet You Wanna Know.” The full-length Welcome to the Block Party followed in February 2022, climbing to number 39 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. Later that year she scored another hit, “You, Me, and Whiskey,” a duet with Justin Moore. Early 2023 brought a deluxe edition of Welcome to the Block Party that added four fresh cuts, among them the contemplative “Me, Pt. 2.” The standalone single “Fake Names” surfaced before year’s end.
