Gabby Barrett blends earthy twang with melismatic pop phrasing in her country-pop style. She first gained widespread notice by advancing to the finals and finishing third during the sixteenth season of American Idol in 2018. The following year she issued her initial country single, the vengeful breakup track “I Hope,” and a Charlie Puth-assisted remix climbed to number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2020. That same year she unveiled her gold-certified debut album Goldmine, which also spawned the hit “The Good Ones.” Her sophomore set Chapter & Verse reached listeners in February 2024 after the June 2023 arrival of its lead single “Glory Days,” while her debut holiday collection Carols and Candlelight appeared the following November.

Raised in Munhall, Pennsylvania, Barrett began writing and recording material in Nashville while still in high school. By age seventeen she had already sung the national anthem at NFL and MLB contests and had opened shows for Toby Keith and Cole Swindell before auditioning for American Idol in Music City. During the 2018 season she interpreted material associated with Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris, and Miranda Lambert en route to her third-place finish.

Mid-January 2019 brought the three-song EP Fireflies, followed a week later by the release of “I Hope,” which marked her first entry on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Over the ensuing eighteen months she rolled out additional singles such as “The Good Ones,” “Hall of Fame,” and the Shane & Shane collaboration “Got Me.” Early in 2020 the Puth duet version of “I Hope” surged to number three on the Billboard Hot 100, and later that year Goldmine peaked at number twenty-seven on the pop albums chart before earning gold status. In 2021 she collected three Billboard Music Awards along with the Academy of Country Music Award for Best New Female Artist of the Year, and an expanded deluxe edition of Goldmine surfaced late in the year.

June 2023 saw the launch of “Glory Days,” the opening single from her second full-length project Chapter & Verse. The February 2024 album, co-produced by Ross Copperman and featuring a guest turn from Phil Wickham, entered the Country Top 40. Barrett closed the year with the November arrival of Carols and Candlelight, her first Christmas album.
